Challenge

To stimulate local awareness, build anticipation and promote Cirque du Soleil Saltimbanco arena tour in the Phoenix area for a week-long run despite a down economy and when many locals leave during the hot summer months – all in an effort to drive ticket sales.

Idea

Breaking Through the Clutter: Cirque du Soleil Integration with Diamondbacks.

In addition to a successful long-lead PR campaign and substantial secured media coverage in the market prior to the show’s run to stimulate awareness, Barclay worked with the Arizona Diamondback franchise to help promote tickets sales for Cirque du Soleil Saltimbanco the week before the run of show. 

Cirque du Soleil artists performed the National Anthem at the top of the game and performers showcased the world-renowned artistry of Cirque du Soleil and delighted the audience throughout the game.  The game was broadcast live on Fox Sports Arizona with announcers providing information about the Saltimbanco run at the Jobing.com Arena.

Impact

Barclay provided strategic input regarding media relations tactics; key audience identification; media outreach; media interviews and appearances for Cirque spokespersons and performers; and, other publicity opportunities in advance of the Phoenix tour stop.

Barclay secured more than five in-studio broadcast interviews with Cirque performers each morning of the show’s Phoenix run on each of the local affiliates, including AZ Family, ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS.  Barclay also secured pre-event, event and post-event coverage in nearly every local print publication including Phoenix Magazine, Phoenix Home & Garden, 944, ECHO, Arizona Republic, East Valley Tribune, Arizona Parenting, Glendale Star, Jewish News, Phoenix New Times, AZ Weekly, Phoenix Business Journal, frontdoors and more.
