Working on the entertainment team here at Barclay, I never find myself without anything to say or write. But ask me to write a blog about myself and I get complete writer’s block. When I sat down to write this, I started to think about my college days. I was a student with an undeclared major who already explored options in teaching, art and design. I had no idea what I would be doing after college other than making copies at a local print shop where I was working while attending college. Time had gone by and the only thing I had discovered was that the fanaticism I had for music, film and the arts was growing.
Rewind to a couple of weeks ago when I received an e-mail from a colleague and friend who light heartedly was making fun of me for sharing a photo of my adventures in promotions. The teasing was not because of who I was standing with in the photo, but because of the excitement I had standing next to them. He sent me an e-mail and said, “You are unbelievable. I would think that this is so beyond your world at this point with as much as you're around the whole film promotion business; that you could care less about whoever was in town promoting a film. You give me hope that you don't have to be jaded...

”.
Jaded? Never! Jazzed? Always! I am excited because you get to be part of something that at times can be a global phenomenon. I am excited because it is fun. I am excited because I get to work with amazing people. I am excited because it is a creative outlet. I am excited because it something new everyday. I am excited because I am a fan. Promotions and publicity is hard work at times, late hours most days, and down right out of this world. The entire reason I went into this field was because I was a fan. The dictionary defines the word as a person with extreme and uncritical enthusiasm. So when the enthusiasm fades and jadedness sets in, that is when fan inside will hang up the promotional hat and say “That’s All Folks!”
