From touchdowns to touching, it’s fun to see the smiles that movies bring

As a twenty-something, I’m relatively new to the social media scene. Despite joining Facebook and Twitter just last year (sometimes I can’t believe I caved and at the same time wonder what took me so long to join!) it is clear that social media is the wave of the future, and its importance can’t be argued. I read a lot of blogs and here I am, writing my first!
I am a member of the Barclay entertainment division, which is perfect—since I love all things entertainment! Also, since I love making people happy, my job gives me the opportunity to combine two things I am passionate about—my version of a mashup.
Recently, we hosted a screening of the new film Disney’s
"A Christmas Carol" and were tasked by the studio to bring fun, frivolity and a festive atmosphere to this special 3-D screening. What could be more fun and timely as well—but a visit from Santa Claus! We got the big guy in the red suit to make a special pre-holiday appearance to chat with the children after the screening. Seeing the joy and excitement on the faces of our youngest movie going guests that night was fantastic. Each person exiting the screening was also treated to a free movie poster and a freshly baked cookie courtesy of
Paradise Bakery & Café. All of that plus Santa—we achieved our goal and I felt great!
Kids of all ages are fun to make happy and I was able to spread the cheer again last fall, when we worked on the Universal film
"The Express," which was a football movie starring Dennis Quaid as a college coach. He came to Phoenix to promote the film, and we hosted a screening that was filled with football enthusiasts of all ages. It was so much fun to see a theatre filled with football fans all decked out in their jerseys who just wanted to be able to ask Dennis Quaid questions about the movie. It sounded like we could have been at a football game and just scored the winning touchdown!
It’s not every day that we’re able to get someone as popular as Santa or as famous as Dennis Quaid, but anytime we have an event or screening we are helping people make memories and that’s just one of the things I love about my job.
