Sprouting up in the rainy city of Seattle, I was always looking at the big picture. As a wee kindergartner, the principal of my elementary school asked me if she could purchase my first place watercolor painting that I entered in the district Reflections Contest. Flashing through my mind was the purchase of the next Cabbage Patch Kid that I had on my "NEED" list, or possibly that giant 250 box set of colored pencils that came in a carrying case larger than myself.
As tempted and flattered as I was, I had to refuse. "You want to purchase the original?! Sorry, but I'm going to have to hold on to this one. It's going to be very valuable someday, I'm going to be a successful artist. How about a print?" Although this was said with a half lisp with two missing front teeth, my drive and determination was very apparent at this early age.I knew what I wanted to do and set out to do it.
I still love all things creative and feel I have been very lucky to make a career of it. Studying at
ASU College of Design in Visual Communication directed me towards Barclay. As Associate Art Director, I use these visual communication skills through many mediums to reach different audiences. The best part? I create and work on something different every day.
