Mary O’Hanlon has more than 30 years of experience in media, public relations, promotions and advertising.
Mary opened Barclay in 1985 after her entrepreneurial instincts identified a need for local representation of major motion picture studios in the Valley. These instincts proved correct and since its opening, Barclay has managed regional publicity and promotions for such notable studios as Walt Disney, New Line, Universal and DreamWorks SKG. Throughout the nation, Barclay Communications is known as a pioneer in the regional marketing of major motion pictures studios.
Mary used the momentum gained from the entertainment industry to create a second division at Barclay that focuses primarily on public relations. This division has grown tremendously through the years and has boasted dozens of clients, including those in the health care industry, high-profile charity events, non-profit agencies, restaurants and more.
With Mary’s vision, Barclay Communications has evolved into one of the top public relations agencies in the Southwest. The agency has built a first-class reputation for creating programs and events that achieve a client’s marketing goals. Additionally, the agency continues to distinguish itself through its commitment to client service and continually exceeding clients’ expectations.
Mary currently serves on the boards of the ASU Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Communication, the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, AWEE (Arizona Women for Education and Employment) and the Changing Lives Center, servicing homeless women and their children.
She is also co-founder of Bosom Buddies, a non-profit group offering peer counseling to women with breast disease. Mary has received the distinction of being named “Woman of the Year” by Arizona Woman magazine and “Woman of Distinction” at The 2005 Girl Scouts World Awards.
